No life without water!
It is therefore of immense importance to protect our
precious water. The quality of our drinking water is
being checked regularly. Quality characteristics
are amongst others the content of microbes (e.g. E coli
bacteria) as well as the amount of mineral matters and
trace elements present. Swiss drinking water contains
calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, fluoride, sulphate,
hydrogen carbonate, potassium, nitrate and silicic acid
in considerable amounts.
Fluoride (teeth, bones), calcium
(bones) and magnesium (heart, muscles,
nerves) are very beneficial for our health in appropriate
amounts.
Besides the alkaline and alkaline earth metals, drinking
water may also contain traces of semi-metals
or other metal ions as heavy metals. Some of
these trace elements (for example copper, cobalt, selenium
and zinc) are essential to maintain the metabolism of
the human body.

excellent devices for water analysis. |
